BLOG: The holiday season boasts many of the busiest travel days throughout the year. However, between Christmas shopping, holiday festivities, and extra errands, you may spend more time in the car this month without even venturing far from home.
The extra demands placed on us this season can make healthy nutrition a real challenge. Unfortunately, a decrease in wholesome food choices is often coupled with changes in the weather that make us susceptible to getting sick. And the holiday season is no time to feel under the weather!
Luckily, our neighbors at Stewart’s considered all the extra holiday hustle and have made planning nutritious choices one less thing to think about on our list this year. Whether you are stocking up for a long day of travel or simply filling up on gas between shopping trips, Stewart’s always has wholesome solutions to help keep you healthy, energized, and ready to embrace the season! During a recent trip to my local Stewart’s Shop I was pleased to find many energizing snack options were available for customers as they set out find their yuletide treasures.
Here is a short list of my favorite snacks available at your local shop:
Stewart’s Car Cups: Nuts are a great source of protein, omega-3 fatty acids and fiber to keep you full as you check off your holiday list. More importantly, the extra vitamin E, vitamin B and magnesium found in nuts can help support a healthy immune system when you are under stress. (Hint: These might be a good idea to have on hand during a traffic jam!)
The best part is that these mixed nuts are packaged to fit right into the cup holder of your car for mess-free eating!
Stewart’s Low Fat Blueberry Yogurt Parfait: Each parfait comes with vanilla yogurt, blueberries and organic granola. I love berries for all the immune-boosting vitamins and minerals that are packed into each one, including vitamins C and E, riboflavin and potassium. Blueberries also help in the production of dopamine, a mood-enhancing messenger in your brain, to help you stay merry this holiday season! These parfaits are now offered in smaller, calorie-controlled portions and are also available in Strawberry!
And of course, coffee: Whether you need that extra burst of energy to fight the lines at the mall or the toll booth, grab a cup of Stewart’s coffee to keep you going. This gives you the power over the nutrition inside your drink as well…I recommend topping your coffee with some of Stewart’s low-fat milk for additional protein without additional calories!
