Hitting the Road? Easy Snacks at Stewart’s

05/22/14

BLOG: Memorial day marks the unofficial beginning of summer travel. If you are anything like me, you are looking forward to long weekend getaways, but definitely not the travel.

On every trip, there is always need for some sort of snack or cold beverage to keep you satisfied while you sit in traffic. However, it is important not to mindlessly eat while bored in the car; best to save your indulgences for your actual vacation! But as it turns out, a pit stop as Stewart’s might be all you need to have a healthy and satisfying car ride.

Stewart’s provides everything you need right in your own neighborhood, preventing long stops at crowded rest areas along the way. In one stop, you can fuel up on gas and also gather a few comforts of home for the ride. I always look for snacks that contain protein to curb my appetite and keep me content on a long drive. I also try and stock up on beverages that will keep me hydrated and attentive along the way. And most of all, I look for easy options that won’t leave my car a mess for the duration of the trip!

Before your next long trip, try some of these ideas:

Snacks:
-Check out Stewart’s Car Cups with nuts! The Sweet and Salty Trail Mix and Mixed Nuts varieties are filled with enough protein and flavor to keep you full and satisfied. Even better, each container is the perfect size to fit in your cup holder; for a mess-free snack that will keep you munching all along the way.

-I also love the Stewart’s Fruit and Yogurt Parfait. These delicious snack options have both protein and fiber for longer lasting energy. (Perfect for unexpected traffic jams!) They come with a spill-free lid, so you can have it all at once or save some for later.

Beverages:
- For early morning or late night car rides, I recommend a cup of Stewart’s coffee to keep you alert. The body functions best with 200mg of caffeine, about the size of two small or one large cup of coffee. As always Stewart’s allows you to make your own, putting you in control of how much cream and sugar is really needed.

- Long hot summers call for big, cold drinks. Stock up on your favorite of Stewart’s Refreshers before you hit the road. Their selection of flavors provides something for everyone in the family. My suggestion: the unsweetened ice-tea refresher; it has no sugar or calories, but enough electrolytes to help you stay hydrated.
