Stewart’s President Gary Dake will get behind the counter in Schoharie and Rotterdam as part of his tradition of working in shops that made a notable impact during the company’s Holiday Match program. It’s an opportunity to personally thank customers for their donations to the Holiday Match and show appreciation to the hard work of the shop partners.
Gary will be at the Johnson Ave shop in Schoharie, from 9am – 1pm on Tuesday, February 16. That’s where customer donations jumped 155% over the previous season.
Customers at the Rotterdam location (corner of Burdeck St & Mariaville Rd) donated more than $8,700 to Holiday Match, making it the top fundraising shop in the entire company three years in a row. Gary will visit that shop on Thursday, February 18 from 9am-1pm.
From Thanksgiving Day through Christmas Day, Stewart’s customers generously donated $870,000, which is then doubled to $1.74 million with the Stewart’s match, setting another new record for the campaign. After these funds are distributed, the Stewart’s Holiday Match will have allocated more than $22 million since its inception in 1986.
Applications for funding from the 2015 Holiday Match season are currently being reviewed, following a deadline of January 31st. The program supports qualified, charitable 501c3 organizations that are locally based and benefit children under 18. Funding will be allocated in March.
Stewart’s Shops and related family foundations support local charities, donating $7.5 million annually.
